Behind Veliki Preslav on the route to Madara and Varna you also pass Shumen. It is worth visiting the great Tombul Mosque from 1745. It is the largest mosque in Bulgaria.

From the great monument over the city of 1981, built to the 1300th anniversary of Bulgaria, you have a magnificent view of Shumen and the surrounding area. There also is a start ramp for kite pilots.
